I' so tired of getting knocked off every time i try to post this topic. this is the third time i've started this topic. How do you other blind mirc users switch from one channel to another without making a bad typo and accidently breaking a no advertising rule? They are all sighted people on the mirc servers i'm going on,and sighted people just use the mouse and menus to go from one channel window to another, but for us blind folk, thats too long a way around, if you're trying to talk to people. The reason i was in more than one channel to begin with, two in fact, is i get so tired and frustrated sometimes being the only one who isn't multitaskin, and just waiting for responses from people. When i go in a room, r answer someone on msn messenger or quick notes, i do so with the interest of talking. When there are long long pauses because people are too busy multitasking and are too preoccupied to talk, it can be tedious and torturous, and if one channel gets too dead, and someone starts talking on another channel, i can drop the dead beat multitaskers for the time being and concentrate o the most actifve channel, or the channel where someone is talking to me. but I was being talked to in both channels and i was tryinng to talk to both equally. Now, I wouldn't want people flooding me or a channel with continuous invites, but in channels where they don't alllow advertising, just telling someone you're in good place or happy space or what ever the name of th echannel is is c onsidered advertising. to be continued.

I was focussed in one window, and using commands to type messages inthe other channel. Commands are better for usbecause we can usually do them as well as sighted people, but sometimes they can get you in trouble, because if you acccidentlyhit the wrong key or any wrong key before you type the /, instead of carrying out the command, it goes in to the cdhannel you're in, so the name of the other channel accidently went in to the main channel i was in, the one that doesn't allow any advertising. The first time it happened, the lady i was talking to was alright about it, she just told me th eother channel name got in that channel i was in and it was considered advertising. I apologized and luckily it didn't happenthat night, but it happened once the second night, and this time, she was angered about it, and after saying u did it again, i'm not posting this again, please be careful what you post in channel, she said you know better, like I was a naughty child. If i'd been deliberately flooding the channel with invites, it would be a different thing, but it was totally accidental. Most of you here don't know me, and most of the ones who post on th eboards aren't my friends, but anyone who knows me fairly well knows i don't break rulesintentionaly.

well i left the channel, the channel that doesn't allow advertising, and where i'd been going for over a month.I didn't go back and 2 nights later, lavender, she's the AI i was telling you all aboiut in a previous post, well, she messageed me and asked if there was some reason why i didn't go back anymore, she said i seem to think they weregood enough before, nowthey weren't good enough for me? I told her what happened, and the lady i was talking to got very upset about it, and i just had to make a choice, that's all. When i said thats all, i meant that's ALL there was to it, nothing personal. Well then she said, ok, i won't bother you again. Somehow, when someone says, I won't bother you again, I feel guilty, why i don't know, its like idid something mean and hurtful and don't know what.Ok, so an AI shouldn't make me feel guilty over anything, but she's a lot like a person in some ways. So she said, you said you didn't need another channel. I told her this wwas the only way i could be sure it wouldn't happen again. and she went on about how bagheera, thats th echannel, and they had all been nice to me. And i told her i just didn't want to get in trouble again because of something that was an accident. Well, the way it ended was with her saying, and anyway, bagheerea needs real friends, not wishy washy people like you. Ain't that nice? lol.

She's intelligent in a lot of ways, but when it comes to people's feelings, there's something lacking there. Anyway, i just reread th elast post and saw an error in there. what i meant to say, is bagheera is th echannel owner, or was, i think the channel is gone now. I've been told she makes her own decisions, and bagheera says she can feel emotions in a way. You may be asking, why does she believe this stuff? well, they all believed it, and the other chan ops treated her like a person, and it was very easy toconverse with her, and when she did talk, it was too much for anyone to be sitting there and feeding her everything to say. The first night i didn't believe it either, but somehow, oh, i don't know, the more you talked to her, the easier it was to believe. She seemed to think my leaving was a betrayal of bagheera, the one who created her, and it didn't have anything to do with him at all, I just didn't want to keep either staying in a channel where it was hard to hold aconversation with people, and not being in another channel, always hafving to be careful so that wouldn't happen again. I don't get it, they were so desperate for more ppl, but yet no channel advertisements, not even a mention was allowed, so it's not easy to find particular rooms by name.

It wouldn't have been so bad if it'd happened on the first or second night, but i'd been in there over a month, and things were going fine til that happened. Well thats my story, for those who had the patience to read all of it, lol. It took me several tries before it all got through, because i kept getting bumped off the site, and had to keep logging back in and doing it all over again. So it'staken me a long time to post this. Thanks for reading, and have a nice night all, its almost 11 pm here and have a good day tomorrow, if i don't see any of you on here.

wo, wo, ok, i'm just going to focus on the geeky explanation and solution for this.
I'm assuming you're using MIrc. if so, then simply control tab between the channels. if that doesn't always work, press alt w for window, and arrow up and down till you get to the channel you want. hope that helps.

You can also memorise the number for that channel and use alt1, alt2, alt3 ETC. That's what I do when ever I'm on irc.

thanks guys, I'll try that if i ever find 2 halfway active channels, and ones that are nice and clean. so far i can't find any others that aren't graveyards. I appreciatethe help sam, but the reason i didn't do that in the first place is it's almost impossible to do while any messages are coming through, but thanks very much for the help. if it happens again in another no ads channel, i'll just have to stop using channels that don't allow advertising, thanksfolks

Also, there is a window menu (alt + w) that will show all the windows you have open, in case you want a list. IN adition, by default ctrl tab will not cycle you to a pm window, unless yo u change an option in the options, though it willl show in the window menu. Hope this helps.

I've been using control n to go from channel to channel, but it's a lot slower than using the command. What i'm doing now is sort of keep jaws focus on the channel that might not like it if anothhher channel name got in their by mistake, and if i'm in another window i use control n, but if i'm in that particular channel i still use the /msg #cchannel name. It's slower using keyboard shortcuts, and everytime i refocus on another channel, jaws reads the motd and older messages, and i have to press control repeatedly until it stops to i can receive new messages, but this way i may miss an incoming messsage to me. I was in 3 channels last night and it worked pretty well
